Seborrheic dermatitis tends to wax and wane. It usually subsides, but often comes back at times. That is why we "control" it instead of "cure" it. Neverhteless, some individuals completely get rid of it. There is most likely something about them, rather than the treatment.

The treatment vaires. Often it consists of dandruff shampoos. Sometimes sortisone solutions are used. I also like to recommend supllementing with essential fatty acids and zinc. You can apply aloe vera gel to the scalp also.

i don't think dandruff shampoos will help my red rashes on my face everytime i eat a gluten product,(which i've eliminated completely and lost 8 lbs); have eliminated from my diet, breads, cheeses, ice cream, (frozen yogurt is OK) i guess yogurt/accidopholus is good)-no reaction.have you heard from patients who get red rashes when eating gluten food products. this resembles an allergy almost, but i've had dandruff for years and dry skin and my doctor said the redness around my eyebrows and other places indicates seborrheic dermatatis. what do you think? can you give me more info? thanks

Yes, dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis are very similar. The latter implies some inflammation as well, such as some redness. It sounds like seborrheic dermatitis to me as well. You probably have always had the tnedency toward it, if you have had dandruff for years. It is interesting about the gluten. Some people are sensitive to certain things, such as wheat, dairy. Perhaps our body does not do well with it.
