15 year old athlete is desperate for diagnosis

Post a new topicby jwjames on Sun Feb 10, 2008 3:32 pm

I am a 15 year old athlete who has been put on the sidelines. I have had many test and have seen many Dr's. Test include EKG, Chest E-ray, Stress Test, Ecocardiograms, ENT Specialist. My symptoms are I have a sharp pain in the center of my chest. It feels like a pulled muscle and gets worst when I exert myself. Breathing out hurts it too. I was a highly sought after Soccer Player and was recruited to play for a Private High School. This condition started while working with a speed coach last summer. It has been 6 months and the no one has been able to pin point it. I have a appointment to see a pulmonary specialist but I'm not real confident at this point in finding the root cause. Can anyone help me? Whatever it is it is always there I feel it when I lay on my side or somtimes even when I eat. I don' know. If someone can help me let me know.

hi...i'm not a doctor, but I have a friend who had something similar to what you're experiencing....obviously it could be several things...but what my friend had was some kind of hernia. he had a hole in his diaphragm (the part that separates the intestines from the lungs)and his intestines were being pushed and squished up into and around his lungs....very painful...of course i'm not saying this is what you have, but it's worth getting checked out, if you haven't already!!

Good Luck and I hope things get better for you, so you can continue to enjoy your sports again!! :-)
