Jon Lovitz Gets Serious About Psoriasis

December 17, 2010

Comic actor Jon Lovitz is well known for his roles on Saturday Night Live and in films like The Wedding Singer and A League of Their Own. What's less well known, however, is that Lovitz has struggled with psoriasis for almost 10 years.

Lovitz had no idea what was happening when raised red bumps began appearing on his skin, and grew concerned when they developed into inflamed, itchy skin patches covering almost half of his body. Only after seeing a dermatologist, did Lovitz learn what psoriasis was, and it was through his good relationship with his dermatologist that the actor was able to get his symptoms under control.

To help spread the word about psoriasis and available treatments, Lovitz is starring in a series of commercials and videos called "Are You Serious?™," which includes a parody of the Maroon 5 song "This Love," featuring lyrics like, "You may think I'm being rude/I'm just embarrassed to be nude/Psoriasis has taken its toll on me/It's come and gone, too many times before."
